Ventilated Curtain Wall

It is a curtain wall system for the outside.
Applications of KF system
1. Renewel of old buildings
Recovery of:
- traditional walls
- concrete buildings
- pre-fabbricated constructions
2. Renewel of old curtain wall
by realising a double coat (when the old curtain wall still mantain good structural features, but it is no more thermal and acustical proof).
3. New buildings

3.1 Recovery of blind walls
3.2 Recovery of blind walls with openable wing:
a. ''ALLGLASS'' windows, openable towards the outside
b. ''VS 94'' windows, openable towards the inside
3.3 Inclined roofs
3.4 False roofs

Cement walls are classified as follows:

I - Without coat with external tight and without cutting of capillarity.
II - Without tight-coat but with cut of capillarity towards the interior:
a) composed by insulating panels that do not absorb water
b) composed by a non-stop air chamber
III - as II.b - but with exit water devices: water will flow through the air chamber.
IV - With cover at external tight:
a) Composed by a coat whose elements must be lied as tiles in front of the air chamber
b) With total plastic coat toward the outside.

The technical considerations (Avis Techniques) given from C.S.T.B. (CENTRE SCIENTIFIQUE ET TECHNIQUE DU BÂTIMENT FRANÇAIS) classify ventilated curtain walls as follows:

- In general: category III
- For some metallic coatings: category IV
Important: insulating and waterproof material must always be used
According to these considerations, K.F. VENTILATED CURTAIN WALL is placed in the following categories:
IV Type A' - A' GLASS
B ALUMINIUM SHEETS
C ALUCOBOND AND SIMILARS
III Type D GRANITE of 20 mm.
